Foresters lose after suspended game |

Santa Barbara, CA - The Santa Barbara Foresters failed to get a win against Team Vegas, losing 6-4 in a game that was suspended due to darkness Saturday night. The Foresters can now only hope for a tie in the CCL with the San Luis Obispo Blues, heading into this afternoons series finally with Team Vegas. Team Vegas jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the first inning, getting a three run homer from Chris Kaplan, driving in Duncan Blades and Kyle Bilbrey. Santa Barbara got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with a home run from first baseman James Wharton, for his sixth of the year. The Foresters then made a comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning, rallying for three runs with RBIs from Derek Legg, who hit a grounder bringing in Shane Kroker from third, then a base hit by Joe Wallace to drive in Wharton and Michael Ratterree, tying the score at 4-4. The game was suspended in the top of the eighth when darkness set in on Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. The game started 48 minutes late due to problems with the Team Vegas bus. The game picked up Sunday afternoon with little offense from the Foresters. Team Vegas, on the other hand, had a big top of the ninth inning, rallying for two runs off four hits, with a big two RBI single from Chris Kaplan to go ahead 6-4. The Foresters went down in order in the bottom of the ninth, suffering a disappointing loss that puts them only able to tie San Luis Obispo with a win in the series finally Sunday afternoon. The Foresters will hold a ceremony commending their host families prior to the game. The game will get underway in approximately 20 minutes. |
